MACRO FUTURE, part of MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome, is located in Testaccio neighbourhood, in two of Mattatoio pavilions (Rome’s former slaughterhouse). In these unusual and fascinating premises, restoration and a minimum of building works and plant engineering have made it possible to create a truly dynamic and flexible space, very different from the traditional models of museum design. The goal is to create an atmospheric space which maintains the quality of the existing structures, but which is also as empty and flexible as possible. And ready for the most diverse artistic uses and forms of expression.

MACRO FUTURE’s name is a symbolic expression of the unique experimental nature of MACRO premises in Testaccio, a complex devoted to research into themes and issues on the frontiers of contemporary art.

In this location many solo and group shows have been organised in the past six years. MACRO FUTURE has so become a centre of artistic research, finding its vocation to international contemporary visual culture.

MACRO FUTURE aims to continue on the path of past experiences and give even more space to experimental and most up-to-date forms of contemporary art and creativity. NEW YORK MINUTE, organised in collaboration with DepART Foundation, due to open on September 2009, will put an incisive and seductive sign on this international and growing museum space.
